Damn! Been checking out alot of good bands lately!
Anyway, randomly checked out this band "serial TV drama". I thought they were a TV drama but they're a band hahaha!
Anyway! They're a really good modern rock/melodic rock band! They have very solid melodic rock tunes. Damn good ones, actually! And, except for everything being sung in Japanese, actually, their sound is incredibly American. And, they totally don't sound like an indie band. Also, they have a lil bit of screamo in some of the songs, yeah..
This is one of my favourite song, まえぶれ (Maebure).
Please check it!
今日のー曲:-
serial TV drama - まえぶれ (Maebure)
This song can be found on the album, シリアルキラー (Serial Killer).
Don't ask... I don't know why they're called butter butter, of all the names in the world to choose.
Anyway, the band I checked out today is the Japanese rock band "butter butter". Checked out their album ミナモ (Minamo)...
The album is quite good. One of those good rock albums, no indie stuff in here ;)
Anyway, here's the song I liked the best from the album, tawny daylily (I have no idea what it means yo~). It's one of those power melodic rock songs. Really catchy, yet solid rock song. Reminds me of those 90s American Alternative Rock songs, actually.
Today, I checked out the J-Indie band, Paunch Wheel. Odaka-kun mentioned in the Lunkhead blog about going for Paunch Wheel's live. Isshiki-san also mentioned going for a friend's live too. I think they were referring to the same show-- but anyway, ODK was great enough to mention the band's name, so I went to check them out! (Well! Anything that Yoshitaro listens to and likes, I'd sure love to check out!)
However, I couldn't find anything on this band except for what's on their myspace music player. At times like these, I really wish Malaysia had a store like
Anyway, from their myspace page, they seem to be a J-rock band-- with slow acoustic songs, some alternative rock sounds, and one that is a bit punk-rockish.
Today's song that I chose is 「日記」(Nikki/Diary)... I really love the part that goes: 「 好きな人がそこにいるの 瞼の裏にそれでいいの 君を好きな私はきっと毎日楽しいの 今恋をしているの」
Anyway, I hope I can get their album one day =) I think they're really worth checking out! Really good band, it's amazing they're still indie!
Today's band is Setsuna Blue Star. I forgot how I came across them, but I think I was randomly searching a J-rock/J-indie fan's myspace and happened across a really long katakana band name I couldn't understand haha... And wallah! A google later, I found Setsuna Blue Star.
Unfortunately, like Paunch Wheel before this, I couldn't find any other (downloadble) media by this band except for what's on their myspace page. (thankfully, at least these bands had myspace pages!)
Anyway, they're a Japanese rock band, abit like Pauch Wheel, except, a little more melodic rock-ish. I really like their songs and I hope I can get a hold of their CDs one day! They're really worth checking out! Doesn't sound like an unsigned indie band at all!
This is the song I liked best from their myspace page, it's called 「うたかたは今」 (Utakata wa Ima). Sounds like those old Chinese songs with a tang of Waltz and played to a rock beat! Yeah!!!
じゃ、今日のー曲:-
Setsuna Blue Star - Utakata wa Ima (セツナブルースター - うたかたは今)
I'm sorry the quality is really bad!!!!! I don't have the CD, you see =(
SO........! Randomly downloaded a song from a Japanese message board I check out and I found this song by this band Chatmonchy!
They're a FEMALE rock band!!! From Shikoku no less! (Where beloved Lunkhead and つばき hails from too~)
After checking out that one song, I went to look for other songs and they're really good too! I really like their songs. They have really powerful rock ballads. Those types that start out soft then builds up to a monumental climax. Really wonderful!
At first I thought the lead singer's voice was too much like Shiina Ringo, really high pitched. However, with more listen, she has her own style that's different from Shiina Ringo, of course.
Please check out Chatmonchy, サラバ青春 (Saraba Seishun)
今日のー曲:-
チャットモンチー - サラバ青
This song can be found on the album, Chatmonchy Has Come.
Oasis star Noel Gallagher was admitted to hospital after being pushed over during the band's set at the V Festival in Toronto, Canada on Sunday.
According to the band's website, the star "fell heavily onto his monitor speakers". He may have fractured his rib and sustained ligament damage.
The 41-year-old was playing guitar during a performance of Morning Glory when a stage invader pushed him over.
Oasis have hinted that a gig on Tuesday may be cancelled as a result.
Fans have been asked to keep checking the band's website for updates on the show, which is due to take place in London, Ontario.
Assault charge
Gallagher's attacker was hauled to the ground by security guards. The guitarist's younger brother Liam, who was singing, had to be restrained from retaliating.
The incident was captured on video by a fan in the audience and posted on the YouTube website.
Oasis left the stage immediately after the attack, but the show resumed a few minutes later.
Gallagher's assailant was detained in police custody and will be charged with assault, according to the statement on Oasis' website.
The festival gig came as the band prepare to complete their North American tour, which ends in New York on Friday.
Gallagher has yet to comment on the incident on the blog which he has been updating throughout the tour.
Well.... No one's to say we didn't see this coming. But, I still think, the band doesn't deserve the criticism (or the punches) that they get. Poor Noel. Maybe, once a fan, always a fan, even if their new stuff... lack.... luster.
However, rip off band or not, they had great amazingly memorable tunes. We have to give them credit for that. Oasis will always be Oasis and a great band to me for tunes like Live Forever, Whatever, Slide Away, Champainge Supernova, Don't Look Back In Anger... that were the resounding amthems of our hearts at that time.
I still believe that like the Beatles for Gallagher's generation, when my generation looks back at the good ol' days, I'd just have to say that Oasis back in 94 - 97, were one of the great music giants of our time.
And hell, I'd pick ANY Oasis 94 - 97 B-Side over any Top 10 Modern Rock crap these days. Thanks, but with that alone, I think Oasis Rocked.
Albeit the past tense.
Alright, so here's to Oasis. Also, one of Isshiki-san's original 今日のー曲.
So here's Oasis' Whatever. One of their best and most definitive songs ever.
