PhilHarmoUniQue - The Morning Sun

With a band name like PhilHarmoUniQue, I was REALLY REALLY thinking they were gonna be some really really stylistic music-nior kind of band...

Turns out they're pretty normal and have quite cool songs. VERY VERY late 90s/early 2000s kind of American rock tune, actually. In fact, the vocals are sung in the style that sounds American, and the vocalist's voice sounds like.... The Calling... Seriously...

Anyway, this track sounds really American, but for the Japanese lyrics ;)

Check it, it's a really really good song! Seriously!

Saves The Day - Stay What You Are

WOW! Had a sudden urge to listen to Saves The Day!!!!

I think Saves The Day comes up with the best album titles ever, Stay What You Are (awesomeeeee), Thru Being Cool (wowwwww~)...

Anyway, this is my favorite Saves The Day album, Stay What You Are. I think every song on this album is kick ass! And Chris really really really has a knack for writing awesome, sometimes SUPER EMO, sometimes SUPER INSPIRING lyrics, and sometimes, awesome LOVE songs hahahaha.... I mean look at this:

Prepare to be ravaged by our lust burning mad, the fire that we've become.
And I know you're under me but I must confess what's in my head:
To me you are the light from a light bulb that breaks sometimes
and the tender warmth inside is released into my life
and it smothers me in flames that lick and scorch my face.
As the smoke reaches the sky know I'm burning tonight.
Know I'm burning tonight.
Know I'll burn for you tonight.

LOOK AT THAT! Isn't that awesome?! hahahahaha...

Anyway, Saves the Day always reminds me of Robbie, I think he's the HUGEST STD (hmm abreviation aint that great! lols) FAN... Also Kaiwen and Allison...

Actually, when I first checked out Saves the Day in 2002, I didn't quite catch thier styke. It was only when they released In Reverie in 2003 when I was in the States that I really fell in love with them. That's why I think it's really sad that alot of old fans didn't like In Reverie, and I think they got some bad shit for it... (which is why I think they released they B-Side collection like so soon after In Reverie)... But I love In Reverie and I love their old songs too!

Anyway, this is my favorite, really really touching and inspiring lyrics by STD... From their song This Is Not An Exit:

Tonight will be the night that we begin to ease the plugs out of the dam.
And we still stand knee deep in the flow,
the undertow will grab our heels and won't let go.
And while we hold, our legs quivering,
the water rises now to our teeth when we just let go
and sail belly up to the clouds, the rocks scraping our backs.
To breathe in the air will be the only thing that we have
and all the wasted nights and empty moments in our lives
are flushed away as we sway with the rhythm of the waves bobbing us up.
Crests fall to troughs as we feel our gills open up
and sail belly up to the clouds, the rocks scraping our backs.
To breathe in the air will be the only thing that we have.
And if the hook set in the bottom of our lungs,
we'll rip it out and lick the blood off with our tongues.

Despair could ravage you if you turn your head around
to look down the path that's lead you here, cause what can you change?
You're a vessel now floating down the waterways.
You can take your rudder and aim your ship,
just don't bother with the things left in your wake.
Just sail belly up to the clouds, the rocks scraping your back.
To breathe in the air will be the only thing that you have
and your love will be warm nights with pockets of moonlight
spotlighting you as you drift, the actor in this play.
And you walk across the stage, take a bow, hear the applause,
and as the curtain falls, just know you did it all
the best that you knew how and you can hear them cheering now.
So let a smile out and show your teeth cause you know you lived it well.

Simply BRILLIANT.

Check it, Saves the Day, from their album, Stay What You Are...
