KAREN is a side project formed by two members of ART-SCHOOL (Kinoshita Riki (vo/gu) and Todaka Masafumi (gu)), and two members of downy (Nakamata Kazuhiro (bass) and Akiyama Takahiko (dr)) and the vocalist of On Button Down, Achiko.
The band started activities in 2005 by doing some live shows. Besides this side-project they were still performing with their regular bands. In April 2008 it was announced they will be releasing their first album, MAGGOT IN TEARS, on May 2nd 2008.

Anyway, quite unique sound they have and TOTALLY COMPLETELY different from Art-School's style... This is probably because of the female vocals that gives a totally different range and style to the songs.
Here's a nice review of Karen... Since I am not even 0.05% of a music junkie nor with the archival knowledge of music as the guy who wrote that review, let's leave the professional review work to that guy!
Well as quoted there, "MAGGOT IN TEARS is not an album that hits listeners over the head. It takes a soft sell approach, coming across unassuming till many listens later, it takes hold."
Well, let's see if it'll stick!
Ah... but still... I am still in love with Riki Kinoshita, despite his lack of...... speech.
