Well this is a fun band! Seriously!
They're relatively new in the scene but has garnered ALOT of attention and praise from other bands lately.
I got to know about D.W. Nicols through Lunkhead, of course, as Odaka-san had introduced the band in his blog. He even wrote that he would never write "straight love songs" like D.W. Nicols does. Also, Isshiki-san (of Tsubaki) also mentioned them lately :)
10 months ago, there was NOTHING of D.W. Nicols to check out online except for the songs on their Myspace page. So, when I went to Japan, I really wanted to check them out. And when I extended my stay in Japan, I grabbed the chance to go for their live at Shimokitazawa Club Que!
D.W. Nicols is comprised of 4 members, 2 guys and 2 girls. The girls are the bassist and drummer (ultra cool... and not to mention, they're really cute too lols ;) )
Anyway, at first listen, their songs are very upbeat and very acoustic based, well, due to the fact that the vocalist also plays the acoustic guitar. Meaning that, every song is acoustic based.
Anyhow, on the CDs their songs are happy and upbeat, quite folkish to a certain extent. Actually, this band reminds me A LOT of The Format not just because their sounds are quite like The Format, except that The Format's songs are wayyyy more folkish and indie than D.W. Nicols.
ALSO, they're an amazing band live. Like The Format, their upbeat acoustic songs are powered up and energized live. The frontman, Watanabe Daisuke, is indeed a natural performer and engages the crowd amazingly well. Their songs are injected with life in their live performances and like the guitarist of Advantage Lucy said, he could hear D.W. Nicols show from far away coz the crowd and the band and the songs are just so energetic and alive!
And it is so.
I DEFINITELY DEFINITELY wish to see this band live again! And at that time, I really want to know their songs and be able to sing and dance and go crazy with them!!!

The first one is from their latest Hajors debut single "My Life Story" (マイライフストーリー), which is a typical and very very catchy D.W. Nicols style song.
The lyrics were handwritten also, really cool... Like Lunkhead's At0m.
The second, "Polaris" (ポラリス), is a slow song from their second Mini-album, Haru urara (春うらら). I think it's weird D.W. Nicols is so somber!!!!! But I guess, everyone can be sentimental and quiet when comes the time... Awesome song, really :)
Gomen, I have not checked out their other album yet... I'm savin it!!!! Dont wanna listen to everything and have nothing left to listen later!!!!
