Lunkhead - At0m

Alrite... I've been really terrible with Lunkhead lately... because of some personal matters... (in fact, EVERY PART of my life has ceased, actually)...I've not been as enthusiastic about Lunkhead as before, definitely not... Although, the lure of their live has always been a glimmer of the salvation from this mess that I hope in.... But who knows if that will ever be... I must see Lunkhead live.... I really must....

Anyway... They released their new album At0m recently...

I thought the lyrics were really cool coz it's handwritten. I wonder if Lunkhead members wrote it themselves... If they did.... ONE OF THEM HAS TERRIBLE HANDWRITING!! ahahahaha ;)

Actually they've been releasing a series of live-house only singles, and ITMS download special of their singles, leading up to this release. And thanks to Ame and Nagami-san, I managed to get my hands on the CDs...

The singles:

Anyway, so back to At0m... Have not had a chance to really listen to the song just yet... But their sound is different from the previous album Force.

Where Force was fast tempo/upbeat and energy driven, this album seem to have raised the edgy rock styles that has been increasinly seeping into Lunkhead's rock tunes... I feel that their songs are getting more and more edgy and less melodic rock (bye bye pop~ hehe)... I feel Lunkhead's style has always been very different from other Japanese rock bands.  The thing about Lunkhead songs is that, I don't feel it's radio friendly. This is because their songs have very unusual tempo and the guitar riffs are definitely very stylistic yet edgy. Also, Odaka-san (G., Vo,) is definitely stretching his vocal range and styles more and more..

And I feel this album really exemplify that to a great extent. Most of the songs are a blend of edgy stylistic guitar riffs, with changing of tempo from verse to chorus... And add to that mix is Yoshitaro's incredibly ever-chaging vocal range.

I guess, this album is not for all to swollow, and very, if not entirely different from their older albums (Self-title Lunkead album and before). but nevertheless, definitely an album to check out!

For fans, of course, there is no doubt, we're all cheers for this one =)

Anyway, check it!

Three tracks from the album!
